Groups appearing at World Party Weekend 2010

There will be many workshops and stalls at World Party Weekend - have a look at the groups taking part.

Saturday

Swansea Chinese Centre
On the main stage a cultural dance and a Chinese fashion show will take place, giving details of the history of Chinese fashion, in their marquee sale of delicious Chinese food and join in and learn the art of Chinese calligraphy, Chinese crafts will also be for sale.

Barakah Mother and Toddler Group
Join the Barakah mother and toddler group and to take part in children's art and craft sessions, henna painting and flag painting workshops

African Community Centre
The choir based at The African Community Centre will be singing on the main stage on Saturday,  there will also be a drumming workshop in the NWM. Within the African Centres marquee visitors can take part in tribal painting and have their face painted.

ALAS
ALAS will provide a main stage performance of professional Latin American dancing, watch them fly across the dance floor with their fast and fancy footwork, they will also be holding a workshop for you to try and learn how to Salsa Latino style! The ALAS marquee will offer puppet making for children, typical costume dressing up, have your photo taken, historical facts on the Latin American Society


Both days

Project BIG
Project B.I.G. (Bangladeshi Integration Group) aims to empower the largest ethnic minority in the Swansea Bay area with respect to education, socio-economic well-being and youth engagement complimentary to existing services.

Learn how to play the traditional carob board game, visit the café area which will have a variety of Indian snacks such as samoas, spring rolls and pakoras, see the Inflatable Bengal Tiger and have your photo taken with him!

Free flag painting and the opportunity to have your face painted or hand henna painting for a small charge. There will also be historical artefacts on display and information on the background of Ramadan.

Swansea Music Art Dance
Representing  the original Welsh Deetae Celts and the Welsh nation, the marquee will be decorated in a Celtic theme there will be acoustic welsh folk music, poetry recital, silk screening of t shirts, drawing with charcoal and love spoon carving. Have a taste of traditional Bara Brith and delicious Welsh Cakes.

Thai Cultural Association, Wales
Thai association will be showcasing traditional Thai dance on the main stage on Saturday.  There will also be a Thai dance workshop at in the workshop marquee. In the Thai marquee there will be crafts, historical artefacts and art and crafts for sale.

Ile De Capoeria
On Saturday watch the fascinating display of Capoeria, Maculele and Acrobatics on the Main stage, Ile de capoeria will also be holding workshops for you to have a try. Within their marquee there will be the sale of clothing and crafts, visitors will also have the chance to have a go at the drums and assorted musical instruments.

SBREC
The Swansea Bay Racial Equality Council is a voluntary organisation, and a registered charity.  The SBREC marquee will be providing art and craft workshops, have welsh crafts for sale,  provide information on the SBREC  services and having a Welsh café area.

Indian Society
The Indian Centre will be providing a main stage performance of traditional Indian Dance and there will also be an opportunity for you to have a try at Bollywood dance in the workshop marquee.

The Indian Centre marquee will also be selling delicious Indian dishes and providing activities for children such as Sari Trying, Indian card making, Rangoli pattern making, Indian Diya lamp making.

Arab and Muslim Community


Foxx's Drumming
Come and take part in Foxx's drumming workshop which takes place in the National Waterfront Museum on both days.


Sunday

Filipino Community Wales
A performance in the National Waterfront Museum on Sunday, There will be a workshop for children to take part and in and learn the bamboo dance, the Filipino marquee will also provide art and crafts activities and have delicious oriental cuisine for sale.

Menter ensure that the children and young people of Swansea have opportunities to use Welsh, and that adults who are learning Welsh in Swansea have opportunities to develop and use their Welsh.
